This update change nothing for me except nerf the amount of scouting I can do. I was using the squad spot in the drone and quickly switching back to my tank to spot through terrain and buildings. Before the update you could scout 2x faster. Now even if you switch back to your tank it counts as a drone scout as long as it's in the air.
this just makes it not worth playing because your dead before you start the game they are not in proving it they are killing the whole idea of the game
An icon lights up at the bottom left if you're scouted, also for some reason scout drones are really tanky, so even if you do manage a hit with guns, it might not kill them. Your best bet is flak and AHEAD rounds then missiles then bullet spam then crying in a corner! You can remove the airfield weather spawn and set the default to airspawn in the options now.
This is actually pretty good for players that dont know the maps
They make this game the exact opposite of why I started playing war thunder – hiding in bushes, not knowing where enemy is, the element of suprise, air to air battles over the ground vehicles. The game is trash beyond 6.7 and soon enough this game will die out. It's already a game where u need to have russia in you team to win, sim games russia vs rest of world, russian ammo magically doesn't explode and so on.

you could do this for a while before they added the dedicated button for it so it's not really new

the thing is, before this change you were able to use the drone ping/squad ping while in the drone, switch back to tank view, aim at the ping and scout. it doesn't matter how far or where the ping was, as long as it was on a target it scouted, through walls, throughout the entire map, you name it. not many knew about this.
you were able to easily scout every single enemy consistently throughout the match, i would average 20-30 assists from it each match. now, with these changes, you can't do that anymore since the scout timer has been drastically increased.
people think this is an insane change, but people like phly didn't know you could abuse it even more earlier
The issue with old scouting is you didn't get any reward for doing it, this is much better system.
BMP-3 and BMD-4 players waitingto introduce datalink so we can directly measure distance from the tank to the enemy via drone.
I've always used the uav for scouting. Just drop a marker on enemy, switch to tank and scout the marker. This just simplifies the process a little.
am i the only one who sees this as a nerf to the drones?
yes they are easier to use but before this i could just ping a tank exit drone and scout the tank by aiming at the ping. you could do this every 6 seconds at full range!!! you could scout entire full teams within a minute!!!!!!! you also now have to wait longer if you scout from your tank if your drone is up.
pre update time to scout 10 enemies: 1 minute
post update time to scout 10 enemies: 3 minutes
that is 3x longer!!!!
With scouting alreday OP. This makes me not want to play the game at all.
1) Warn your teammates you're dropping large ordinance/bombs/arty and where. 2) Never underestimate the stupidity of your teammates to drive into your impact zone after you warn them.
