Starting at night on June 14, Russia’s Stavropol and Samara regions were attacked by drones. The information was spread on local Telegram channels. In both regions, chemical plants were targeted. In Stavropol region, Ukrainian-owned kamikaze drones struck the Nevinnomyssk Azot plant. As a result, a fire broke out on the plant premises. The Nevinnomysskiy Azot chemical plant is located over 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Stavropol Governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed that drone debris had fallen in the industrial zone of Nevinnomyssk. He stated that the attack aimed at the Nevinnomysskiy Azot chemical plant. Initially, one person was reported injured, but the governor later clarified that there were no casualties. Videos posted on social media appeared to show drones flying over the city and explosions near the plant. Nevinnomysskiy Azot is one of Russia’s largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers and ammonia. It also hosts the country’s only facilities for producing high-purity methyl acetate and acetic acid, along with Russia’s first melamine production plant.
In Samara region, drones struck the Novokuybyshevsk Catalyst Plant. As can be seen from the footage taken by local residents and shared on Telegram channels, air defense systems are trying to shoot down the drones during the attack. There is no information about casualties. According to local authorities, there were no damages or casualties; however, the video tells a somewhat different story. Novokuybyshevsk plant of catalysts is part of the structure of “Rosneft” and is one of the largest enterprises in Russia and Eastern Europe in the field of gas processing, petrochemicals and organic synthesis. Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed that air defense systems had shot down 66 drones overnight: 30 of them over the territory of the Voronezh region, 10 over the territory of the Belgorod region, 8 over the territory of the Stavropol Territory, 6 over the territory of the Voronezh region, 1 over the territory of the Samara region and 11 over the waters of the Sea of Azov.
