  2. Just so thankful that none of these pilots can fly for crap! Absolute novice level flying, and I hope the hobby follows the lead of proficient pilots like myself abandoning the hobby and quit supporting the hobby companies who aid in war.

  3. Just to let you know, the way you're blurring your friend's face can be unblurred. Due to the changes in pixel colour etc. as the camera pans/moves over his face you can get a map of the pixels of his face. Black bars are the only way to stop this. The more time his face is on screen and the more zoom in and zoom away you do, the higher the resolution gets.

  4. 05:23 – would you show how to make a repeater? Much appreciate. The thing is, nobody wants to fly 5.8Ghz, because it's junk and easily jammed. NAd the problem is, Ukraine wants that everyone is giving them support but the same time they are not giving back anyhing. There is no mutual benefit. Ukraine wants everytjing but dont want to share. I helped enough, but got nothing regarding to FPV. So…whats the sense to help?

  5. I fly fixed wing UAVs regularly, and each one I have costs $200-300. FPV quads tend to be in the same price range. Why don't the use short range missiles or artillery? Are the rockets and shells really that expensive?

  6. 3:30 For the love of God, please, Americans, learn which side of the number the dollar sign goes on. It's "$200," not "200$." The dollar sign comes BEFORE the dollar amount. This is basic elementary school knowledge.

  7. What angle do you set your camera at? Is it just down to the pilot's preference? Or do you need to achieve certain speeds to avoid the enemy?

I prefer to fly at 45° as I find the controls to be the most natural around that, but if you were trying to evade incoming fire then perhaps you'd want to be closer to 25° to be able to punch upwards faster?

  8. Thank you CivDiv for such laconic and informative videos. They are a good introduction to the basic, yet vital topics for enthusiasts and wannabe servicemembers. I do know much of this stuf myself, since I live in Ukraine, and know maaany people, adjacent or directly involved in our UAV Systems Forces (СБС – Сили Безпілотних Систем). But explaining all of this things to the strangers may be a bit too tedious with how often people dont have a clue on a matter. Hell, even ground forces are familiar with drone and jammer tech at a very basic level. So this vids are very educative.

  9. as a hobbyest I'm pissed that FPV is now seen as this grate war machine…… and it's making the public view completly ruin the hobby……. but at the same time…. as an engineer… I can't deny that I too have my own hobby projects that could be VERY usefull in the military….. so I have mixed feelings……

  10. I have seen lots of machine vision on a raspberry pie projects, there are cheap chips that run single purpose machine learning "ai" categorizes, there are cheap boards that automate drone flight… Why does an "ai capable" drone cost $xx,000 when the electronics to do vision categorization and flight cost < $200? Are these cheap electronics not up to the challenges of the battlefield, the tasks are much, much harder?

  11. Is it not cheaper and easier to have analog and digital googles and a controller for every band than to changeout parts if the drone is not compatible with the googles and controller you only have?

  12. Some of the FPV drones used by Ukraine do have some level of AI. It allows operator to lock on target and if/when control link is blocked – AI system continues flying towards target by itself.

  13. What about Spread Spectrum Frequency Hopping? Is that type of tech available to the consumer grade drones you're using? If you've never heard of it, instead of using a single frequency, the drone and controller have a sequence of frequencies that are used, switching every second or every few milliseconds. It's based on the idea that some frequencies might be jammed, but that will be momentary static as the rest of the frequencies won't.

Also, what about drones that, when jammed, start homing in on the jamming? Like a SEAD counterpart for drones. Is that being used?

  14. ill add/emphasize something. drones are like swiss army knives. they can do alot but at a basic capacity.
they can kill a tank but not reliably nor can they fire cheap heavy tank rounds
they can kill a soldier but cant hold a position,
they can destroy a parked jet but they cant kill a flying jet or do what a jet can do.

capability vs cost can bite u in the arse
