When I set out to learn mosaic craft in early 2025, I had no idea it would take three very different classes, more than a few broken glass pieces, and cuts all over my hands, to finally build the mirror I’d originally imagined. In the 27th video in my ‘Mindset Reset Challenge’ series, I take you through a colourful journey of learning how to work with mosaic materials—starting with a mass-market Turkish Lamp workshop, then building confidence with Merlin Mosaica’s creative classes, and finally designing and constructing a large glass mosaic mirror for my new beach house.
Along the way I learned:
🧩 How to cut and place glass for geometric and curved designs
💡 Why working with mass hobby kits can be both helpful and frustrating
🎨 How to build a design concept from scratch (even when overwhelmed)
🛠️ Tips for grouting, framing, and finishing mosaic pieces cleanly.
My final project took five months from first class to finished mirror—but the real reward was developing the skills and creative confidence to bring my ideas to life. If you’re interested in mosaics, stained glass, or simply love watching a creative project come together, this video is for you.
