Germany to Send AI Drones to Ukraine, Withholds Long-range Missiles | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Germany is set to send 4,000 drones to Ukraine to help the latter in its fight against Russian invasion. Defence Minister Boris Pistorius told reporters that the drones being provided “were directed and supported by artificial intelligence” and that they could “take out the enemy’s electronic drone defences”. However, Berlin has refused to give Kyiv the long-range Taurus missile system. “There are certain limits for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. He does not want these long-range weapons to be delivered. This position will not change,” a German government’s spokesperson said. On Sunday, the United States allowed Ukraine to use its long-range missiles to target Russia. After Washington DC, Berlin is Kyiv’s second-biggest supplier of military aid.
