What questions do YOU ask when you price drone projects?

A lot of people ask me “how do you price your drone work” and to me this is the most impossible question to answer.

15 QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN SOMEONE ASKS YOU FOR A DRONE PROJECT AS A *TRAVEL CREATOR*

15-Do I need to travel for this? Is that paid for?
14-How long will this take?
13-How many photos/videos are you looking for?
12-Where is this located and are you required to get permissions/approvals to drone in this place?
11-What kind of lighting / weather is required (if sunny days or “colorful sunsets” BUILD IN time for this, because it’s not guaranteed)
10-Is this edited content (i.e. drone shots turned into a video) or is it edited by clips?
9-Or is it completely raw content? How many batteries might you need?
8-Where will this content be used?
7-For how long?
6-Will you get credit for these shots depending on how they are used?
5-Is this an ongoing project/relationship/etc? Or a one and done?
4-Are people in the shot? Are you required to do release forms?
3-Will it require insurance? How much?
2-Are you being helped with “where to drone from” or do you need to figure that out?
1-Is the shotlist created or are you having to location scout and do that?

So the final answer? $5.

I’m kidding.

The short answer: it depends.

And are these ALL the questions? No! It varies by project, but this list will get you STRTED.

The answers to the above questions will help you gauge HOW LONG this project will take. One thing I always ask people to consider: Create YOUR hourly rate and then use that as a starting point and work backwards on how long a job will take you. THEN figure out how the number needs to change based on how challenging the project is and what’s required of you.
