Using Civilian Drones for RECCE: Asset or Artillery Magnet??

Today I’ll be going over the use of civilian drones for RECCE, and whether or not they are a valuable asset, or a liability (get you killed via tracking software/artillery).

I was never a drone operator while in the military, and the use of these style of drones wasn’t as common place as we are seeing today.

Due to this lack of experience, I wanted to see what it was like to add a drone to my loadout, and test some stuff out in the field.

In order to accomplish this, I took my drone out to 5x 40 hour MilSim West events, which are very much like a standard military FTX, but with Airsoft.

This let me take the drone out into the field, in a force on force type of scenario, which taught me some lessons on how to use the drone in that type of environment.

Combining this, and studying the ways drones are being currently used in warfare, and how they are being countered, left me with some takeaways I’ll be sharing in this video.

Enjoy!
