Trump has responded to Russia’s attack on Poland and NATO saying “What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!” It’s unclear why he phrased it like that, and if that’s an exasperated “here we go” or a hyped “here we go”. Poland’s government is now saying that what Russia did last night was intentional, with the foreign minister saying it was an unprecedented attack. The Polish Prime Minister said that “we are most likely dealing with a large-scale provocation”. This comes as they continue to find Russian drones all across Poland, including some near Warsaw. Russia is claiming that it did not intend to hit Poland, this comes after they denied that the drones were theirs. European leaders remain unconvinced because, whether it was an accident or not, those drones ultimately threatened civilians and their countries. With a Ukrainian expert saying that the drones Russia launched were reconnaissance drones, likely testing NATO defenses to determine the speed and efficiency of the response. Russia threatened Finland, another NATO member, today with war. NATO has confirmed that the US had no participation at all last night as NATO defended itself from the Russian attack – raising questions as to why the US stood down as Russia attacked its allies, especially since the entire alliance responded. One hill staffer said – “In Trump’s own telling – Netanyahu attacked Qatar the same day Putin is launching drone incursions into NATO member Poland. Pretty weak for a guy who spent four years boasting that every single foreign policy crisis would not have happened if he had been president”. Ukraine has offered Poland assistance in strengthening its alert systems and protection against Russian strikes.
