Ukraine Drones Target Moscow Ahead Of Victory Day, Trump Asks Erdogan To Help End “Ridiculous War”
Russian airports restricted traffic after Ukraine launched more than 100 drones overnight, including in Moscow, officials said on May 6. Russian air defences shot down 19 drones around Moscow and debris fell on a major avenue in the city’s south, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. This marks the second night in a row that Ukrainian drones targeted Russia’s capital.
The attack comes three days before the Kremlin will hold its grand military parade on Red Square to mark the defeat of the Nazis.
The drone threat triggered temporary shutdowns at the region’s Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Sheremetyevo airports. In addition to all four Moscow airports, restrictions were also introduced at the Grabtsevo airport in Russia’s Kaluga Oblast.
Zelensky had earlier warned that Kyiv cannot guarantee safety of foreign leaders visiting Moscow on May 9.
