In response to escalating drone attacks by suspected Kuki militants, Manipur Police deployed an advanced Anti-Drone System to counter rogue drones. This move strengthens the state’s defense against militant assaults that have caused unrest and casualties. Security forces demonstrated the system in violence-hit areas of Manipur, days after a man was killed by weaponised drone attacks near Imphal West. It was the first recorded use of weaponised drones to bomb civilians by suspected insurgents in India. In a post on X, the Manipur Police said the Assam Rifles has deployed a few anti-drone systems in the fringe areas “to repel any rogue drones”.
