At first glance, they look like gadgets. But look closer: these tiny, low-cost drones are being used to track, hunt, and kill. From Ukraine to Gaza, they’re dropping grenades into trench systems and knocking out million-pound armour, all with tech that costs less than a pair of boots.
But the visible drones are just the start. China has unveiled “mosquito-class” drones just 2cm long, flapping 500 times a second, capable of recharging off power lines and carrying facial recognition software or a gram of explosive. These aren’t drones with payloads, they are the payload.
Officials claim it’s all still in testing. But on the ground, soldiers are already being hunted by tech they can’t even see, and Britain is nowhere near ready.
