The Israel Air Force is widely recognized as one of the world’s best organizations of military aviation.
It excels in air-to-air combat, air-to-ground strikes and surface-to-air intercept; the last mission being assigned in the Israel Defense Forces to this branch rather than to the Army.
Yet what has been a remarkable record against ‘birds of prey’ is more questionable when ‘mosquitoes buzz.’ Last week, a small Unmanned Aerial System penetrated Israeli airspace from Lebanon and managed to safely sneak out back home after being chased by aircraft and air defense.
Is that a serious hole in Israel’s wall, or merely an asterisk?
