The Manipur government has alerted security forces after receiving an intelligence report on the influx of 900 Kuki militants from Myanmar. According to the intel, 900 tribal militants, trained in jungle warfare and using weaponised drones, have entered India to carry out possible coordinated attacks on villages belonging to the Meitei community. The northeast Indian state of Manipur has been witnessing ethnic violence due to clashes between the Kuki and Meitei community, which makes up 53% of the state’s population. Meiteis, Nagas and the Kuki-Zomis are the three major ethnic communities of Manipur.
