Drone reset

HS2 Long Itchington Wood Tunnel South Portal | River Itchen Viaduct | Southam

Another HS2 video… showcasing the progress (or occassionally lack of in the new HS2 ‘reset’ era) of the UK’s second high speed railway project, which highlights several key features of the civils work in this area along the route.

The drone returns to normal duty and remains well above ground in this exciting footage to provide panaromic views around the stunning Warwickshire countryside and displaying the area’s equestrian traditions.

The four span River Itchen Viaduct is one of a series (no 15) of major viaducts along HS2 phase 1 route with one final abutment to complete before installation of the decks can begin to take place.

River Itchen here is a small river about 18 miles long, running south to north.

At the beginning of the footage B4451 overbridge looks complete but little progress appears to have been made on the cutting northwards, though drone footage from a great height can be deceiving at times… That is to say its not clear the extent of the tunnelling of the 100m single bore green tunnel under construction immediately south of Long Itchington Wood Tunnel South portal.

Gratefully it’s my first visit to the area and so it’s primarily important for me take in the scenery, not to judge, and only to make assessments in future videos. It’s always a pleasure to explore the progress of the HS2 project, it provides interesting angles of interest.

High speed trains are due to pass through this area 2033/2035…

Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. It’s appreciated.
