Even Mexico SHOCKED by US Military Move on Cartels

A New York Times report on August 8 revealed that Donald Trump secretly signed a directive authorizing potential U.S. military operations against Mexican cartels designated as foreign terrorist organizations. The order provides the Pentagon with authority to plan targeted strikes at sea and abroad.

By mid-August 2025, U.S. forces had already moved into position. The USS Gravely and USS Spruance were deployed near Mexico earlier this year, and CNN reported on August 15 that 4,000 naval personnel and marines were sent to the region. At the same time, the U.S. placed $26 million in bounties on cartel leaders, raising the stakes in what appears to be a major escalation in the drug war.
