With its recent release, the 4T has been making waves in the industry as a solid competitor and a workhorse drone for various public safety and inspection work. Now, Autel has just released an important update for the 4T that takes this drone to another level.
On this update, you now have the option to use Tripod Track which allows the drone to automatically track recognized targets and smoothly follow their movements. To activate this feature, select the AI button to start the target recognition and then press the tripod button at the top right menu.
From here, simply drag a box around the target and let the drone do the rest. This is ideal for public safety and law enforcement as well as various uses in the recreational space.
Also on this update, the AI feature now works in thermal mode. Before, the AI was limited to the RGB camera and with this update, the AI will now identify people, vehicles, and boats through the thermal imaging camera.
The obstacle avoidance is now live on active missions. Seamlessly navigate around obstacles while you are executing your missions without interruptions. Using the 720 obstacle avoidance system and the millimeter wave radar, you can fly safely knowing the 4T will make its way around obstacles and ensure a safe flight.
Have you ever been flying and wish you would have pressed the record button on the video sooner than you did? Well, the 4T now records 30 seconds before you press record. When you engage the video recording, the 4T will write the previous 30 seconds to the card, automatically.
This is a really cool feature and to my knowledge, it may be the first in the drone industry with this technology and I expect to see this feature and most drones moving forward.
On the map screen, we now have a projected camera view display. A yellow box now highlights the camera’s current field of view so you know exactly which way you are looking and with it being displayed on the map, you can now relay information and have better situational awareness of where and what you are flying near. Also on the map, your AI targets now display on the map, live.
Before, you were only able to see your AI located targets on the RGB screen and pinpointing exact locations was a bit challenging. Now, simply select your map view and you will see each and every car, person, boat or animal on the map.
Autel also fixed and optimized a few various bugs that were in the software and updated the image transmission quality as well. If you are not prompted to update when you power up the aircraft and the controller, simply press the “more” button at the top right, press settings, scroll down to where you see “more” again, and select “about.” and select the option labeled “firmware update.” Make sure that the aircraft and the remote are charged about 50 percent for this update.
