The Ukrainian Defense Forces are gradually approaching the Crimean Bridge , destroying Russian air defense systems. This was stated by the head of security programs at the Strategy XXI Center for Globalistics, Captain First Rank of the Ukrainian Navy Reserve Pavlo Lakiychuk on air at Espreso .
According to him, Ukraine is trying to break through a corridor in the enemy’s air defenses in order to attack cities with a large number of missiles and drones.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces have not yet reached the Crimean Bridge. However, it is obvious that they are getting closer to it. Every time Ukrainian weapons strike Russian airfields in occupied Crimea – Belbek, Novofedorovka, Saki, Dzhankoy, as well as launchers in Tarkhankut and Fiolent, this means that our Defense Forces are once again breaking through a corridor in the Russian air defense in Crimea,” Lakiychuk noted. “This is a local operation. When these objects are hit, it means that in a week, and perhaps even sooner, Ukrainian drones and missiles will fly much further,” the expert added.
As reported, the SBU recently struck the Crimean Bridge for the third time . It was noted that the operation lasted several months. In particular, agents mined the overpass supports, as a result of which the first explosive device was activated on June 3 at 4:44 a.m. without civilian casualties. According to the SBU, the underwater supports of the supports are heavily damaged at the bottom level – 1,100 kg of explosives in TNT equivalent contributed to this. In fact, the bridge is in a state of emergency.
According to hydrogeologist Yuriy Medovar, the strength of the Crimean Bridge in the coming years remains uncertain due to possible external factors that may affect its structure. One of these factors is the dangerous natural activity of a mud volcano near the structure’s supports. The hydrogeologist says that the scenarios for the bridge’s destruction may be very different. If the structure is capable of withstanding an earthquake, then the activity of a mud volcano poses a greater threat.
The Navy explained why the Crimean Bridge is a legitimate target for Ukraine. According to the agency’s representative, Dmitry Pletenchuk, part of the bridge illegally built by Russians is located in Ukraine’s territorial waters. “We have done, are doing and will continue to do everything in our power… This is an absolutely legitimate target. We must start with the fact that part of this bridge is actually located in the territorial sea, the territorial waters of Ukraine,” he noted
